How to repair damaged hair

Going blonde is a process in which will damage your hair no matter what, so if your going blonde you need to take extra care of your hair! Okay so i'm going to have to admit, when first bleaching my hair I didn't do a very good job at it. This is why i have now been left with damaged hair.

Of course bleaching the hair isn't the only way to damage it, any exposure to heat and any exposure to dye will damage your hair. It may not be a noticeable amount but it could still be enough to kill the hair off!

There are many different things you can do to save it and the ones i'm going to tell you about should be no more expensive that £10 each!

So the very first thing you should probably do once damaging your hair, is get it trimmed. Doing this will help remove the frizzy broken ends, you don't need too much chopping off if you don't want to loose your length, as the minor split ends can be repaired or made less visible with care.

The next thing you should do is buy a moisture rich shampoo and conditioner. The conditioner being moisture rich is the main part. This is because conditioner works to help the frizz and keep hair looking healthy.
Many people don't actually use conditioner which is a major sin and if you don't use it I would make sure its vital to begin using it!
I currently use the TRESemme moisture rich shampoo and conditioner. I got it in a set for around £5 and the bottles are still not empty. I really like these two products together, i think they work well. The only problem i find is that my hair gets greasier more easily. But you would obviously expect that in a product which gives your hair more moisture!

The next thing I would recommend which will help your hair a lot is buying a hair mask. If you'd of asked me what a hair mask was a year a go I wouldn't have been able to answer that question. Its simply just to like a face mask, but for your hair. It helps to add moisture and repair hair. They are common to come across at the drugstore, but its much cheaper to make them. You can look on Google for recipes for hair masks, but you can just use products such as yogurt, egg, oils and honey.

If you don't to buy or make a mask or want to take extra care with your hair, you should simply deep condition your hair once a month or even once a week. This means using your conditioner which you normally use and leaving it in your hair. You can do it  from 10 minutes, to a whole night! It just depends how long you want it on, and how much time you have. The longer you leave it on, the more it will soak into the hair. I know many people who have white hair that leave conditioner on for one night a month and their hair looks fab!

Obviously if your hair is damaged a large amount, you should stop using heat. Leaving your hair to air dry and letting it set naturally is something many people don't do, as they don't have the patience to wait for the hair to dry. But doing this will help your hair a very large amount. If you cant do this, then cutting down the temperature on your styling tool will also help. But make sure whenever using heat on the hair, that you use a heat protecting spray!

Lastly remember, when brushing the hair take extra care of it. Treat your hair as if it is a premature baby, its very delicate and any slight problem could set it off. Try and get a tangle teaser to help with knots and make sure when the hair is wet that you do not brush it unless essential, because when the hair is wet, it breaks a lot easier, as it is weaker.

I hope you take advice from this, i have done hairdressing within the past as i have my level 2 hairdressing qualification so what i have learnt is from college!
